RUN TINGS caught up with San Diego based skater Joe Gratzer the first day of the LG World Championships in Dallas and got to know a bit about him and his experience at the event. Joe Gratzer Interview at LG World Championships in Dallas
My name is Joe Gratzer. I'm living in San Diego, California and skating vert here in Dallas, TX.Have you done other LG Events? I did San Diego last year and this year. I think I kinda stand a little bit better chance in the World Cup Series, but I want to skate this one anyway to see what happens. They got a nice ramp, so at least I get to enjoy my time here. How long have you been skating? Oh man... Elementary School. ...I don't know. Long time, -since I was... Young! Young Young. Have you been competing long? On and off I guess. Not really, I mean, yes and no. Not too successful. I was able to make it in the top ten twice this year, so I'm pretty stoked on that. You had a chance to look around Dallas at all? Is this your first time here. No, pretty much I found where the hotel was and that it wasn't too far away from here. You don't have to take a taxi, you could just walk. -so that's a good thing. How you like the ramp? Oh, It's nice. Right now we're skating an outdoor park where I'm from, so it's gonna be hard to go back to skate that, yunno. -compared to this. You feeling pretty confident? Yeah, -Yesterday was pretty fun. I mean, everyone else is skating pretty good too, but sometimes I struggle on certain tricks, and it seems like this time I didn't have to struggle as much on those, so that's good. You enjoy contests? Oh Yeah... Yeah, I believe I do enjoy them. I guess I just gotta try to improve a little bit more and I'll make it in there more often. Who you ridin' for? Chaos Skateboards.
BIG THANKS to Joe for taking the time to chat!
